Built at the end of the first
century AD, the Circus completed the urban development programme
for the official Provincial Representation area of the Town. Typologically,
it meets the usual criteria for this type of structure used for
chariot races (an elongated rectangular plan, in this case 325
x 110/115 metres, with long straight sides and short curved ends).
Of the structural elements, a large number of the vaults have
been preserved and, in a few places, the tiers of seating they
supported. We can also see the remains of the outer facade, the
podium and the monumental entrance gates.
